Did you know that Cold Temperatures can have a significant impact on Nail Products ?.
As a nail tech, it's crucial to stay informed about the products we use on our clients. A significant factor is temperature, which plays a critical role in the performance of all nail products particularly builder and rubber base gels.
Let's take a closer look at how temperature can affect your gels especially during the cold winter season.
The effect of temperature on nail products, especially UV gels cannot be underestimated. Cold temperatures can cause the viscosity of gels to thicken, potentially leading to adhesion disruptions during application. Whether colder or hotter, it is important to note that temperature can alter the viscosity of the gel and possibly impact the outcome.
So, how does this affect your application process?
Colder temperatures can hamper proper bonding as well as cause curing disruptions. In general the thickened viscosity can make the application difficult to navigate and this can lead to sets lifting prematurely and can often leave one confused as to why your applications are suddenly not lasting. However, there are a few simple yet effective steps you can take to address this problem and ensure a smoother stress-free application process.
- It is recommended to keep your salon's temperature between 20-23 degrees Celsius. Creating a warm working environment can go a long way in maintaining the ideal consistency of the gels. Simple adjustments such as using a heater during very cold months can significantly improve the quality of your work.
- Make sure your customers hands are warm before starting your application by using a hot water bottle or heating pad on your desk. Having warm hands will not only ensure a smoother application process but your customer will enjoy the added comfort and care provided during the treatment.
- If your gels have been exposed to cold overnight temperature’s, a fast useful hack is to place the bottle in warm water for a few seconds (not boiling hot) or hold the bottle in your hands to help the viscosity to return to normal.
DO NOT!!! Microwave the products in an attempt to normalize the viscosity, gels are flammable, and we encourage you to only use the safe tips provided above.
As nail technicians, it is essential to stay informed and adapt to overcome any challenges that may arise. By staying proactive and informed we will be able to provide our clients with exceptional services regardless of external factors like temperature. Remember, even the smallest changes can make a big difference in delivering high-quality results so let's keep those hands warm and enjoy fuss free gel polish applications.
